The Black Faces Anti-Racism Project (BFARP) is a community-driven initiative by the Afro-Caribbean Society of Northern British Columbia (AFCAS), dedicated to addressing racism, fostering inclusivity, and supporting the well-being of Black communities in Northern BC.

- Free Psychosocial Counseling – Supporting mental well-being through free counseling services for individuals facing stress, anxiety, or racial discrimination.
- Community-Centered Initiatives – Organizing workshops, symposiums, and sharing circles to uplift and empower Black voices.
- Partnerships & Advocacy – Strengthening networks of support and driving policy discussions to challenge systemic inequalities.
Why BFARP?
Racism impacts mental health, education, and opportunities, making it crucial to address its effects at every level. BFARP combats individual, systemic, and internalized racism by providing resources, education, and support networks that help individuals and communities thrive.
Meet the Project Coordinator
Dr. Emmanuel Chilanga is the Coordinator of BFARP and an Assistant Professor at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) School of Social Work. His work focuses on social justice, mental health, and community empowerment, taking a human rights-based approach to tackling systemic inequalities.
With extensive experience in public health, social work education, and grassroots mobilization in both Canada and Africa, Dr. Chilanga plays a key role in program development, community engagement, and resource mobilization for BFARP, ensuring its transformative and impactful reach.
